MSC Enhances Kaguya Service to Strengthen Intra-Asia Trade Connectivity

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), a leading global shipping company, recently launched its enhanced Kaguya service. This upgraded service offers direct and expedited connections, resulting in remarkable transit times for trade routes connecting Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Central China, and the Philippines with Laem Chabang Port. With the Kaguya service, MSC aims to revolutionize logistics and provide a competitive advantage to regional businesses.

The port rotation for the improved Kaguya service is as follows:  

Tokyo – Shimizu – Osaka – Kobe – Hakata – Busan – Shanghai – Ningbo – Haiphong – Vung Tau – Laem Chabang – Manila North Harbour – Busan – Tokyo 

The inaugural sailing of the Kaguya service will be operated by MSC CARPATHIA III, with an estimated departure date from Laem Chabang on July 31st.

The upgrade offers significant improvements, ensuring efficient and swift transportation of goods across key Asian destinations. It offers competitive transit times for imports via Laem Chabang from Ho Chi Minh, Haiphong, and Busan with 3, 6, and 16 days respectively, and exports to South Manila and Busan within 3 and 11 days, respectively.

Furthermore, the Kaguya service extends its coverage to include destinations in Japan from Laem Chabang, enabling shippers to enjoy seamless trade connectivity with Shimizu, Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, and Hakata. It additionally offers direct connections to new destinations, including the Philippines, and expanded coverage from the Philippines to Japan. These new routes are set to revolutionize the trade landscape in the region.

The Kaguya service is designed to cater to various industries and facilitates the transportation of several vital commodities. The top commodities for this service route include electrical machinery, equipment and machine parts, iron, steel, and plastics.
