DP World has secured a five-year concession extension to continue operating the B5 container berth at Laem Chabang Port through its joint venture, Laem Chabang International Terminal Co., Ltd. (LCIT).
The extension, granted by the Port Authority of Thailand, will run from May 2026 to April 2031.
Supporting Thailand’s Role in Intra-Asia Trade
LCIT operates the B5 and C3 berths at Laem Chabang Port, Thailand’s largest container gateway. The terminals can accommodate up to four vessels simultaneously across 900 metres of berth space and include 4,420 sq m of on-dock container freight station facilities.
In 2025, LCIT handled a record 1.936 million TEUs, reflecting continued growth in regional container volumes and intra-Asia trade.
Glen Hilton, CEO and Managing Director, Asia Pacific at DP World, said the extension provides continuity and operational stability at a time of increasing supply chain complexity and supports ongoing investment in efficiency and sustainability.
Continuing Investment in Electrification and Efficiency
DP World said the concession extension will support further operational upgrades at the terminal.
In 2025, LCIT deployed five electric internal transfer vehicles (eITVs), which the company said reduced emissions by approximately 60% compared with diesel-powered alternatives. Additional investments planned for 2026 include more eITVs, electric reach stackers and an electric empty container handler.
Expanding Inland Connectivity
Alongside its port operations, DP World continues to expand its integrated logistics network in Thailand, including cross-border trucking, freight forwarding and inland logistics services.
The company recently launched a rail-connected inland container yard in Khon Kaen, supported by a thrice-weekly rail shuttle linking northeastern Thailand with Laem Chabang Port.
