DHL Supply Chain has announced the acquisition of U.S.-based e-commerce and retail logistics provider IDS Fulfillment, significantly expanding its warehouse and distribution footprint across North America while strengthening services for small and midsize businesses (SMBs).

The deal adds over 1.3 million square feet of multi-client warehouse space across key U.S. locations, including Indianapolis, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, and Plainfield, Indiana, where IDS Fulfillment is headquartered. All IDS facilities will continue operations under existing leadership to ensure a smooth transition for both customers and employees.

“E-commerce has been a major growth engine for DHL and remains a core part of our Strategy 2030 agenda,” said Patrick Kelleher, CEO of DHL Supply Chain North America. “The addition of IDS Fulfillment expands our operational network and brings more small and midsize companies access to our leading-edge logistics solutions tailored to their unique needs.”

This marks DHL Supply Chain’s second e-commerce acquisition in North America this year, following its purchase of Inmar’s reverse logistics division in January, making DHL the largest returns processor in the region.

According to Oscar de Bok, Global CEO of DHL Supply Chain, “With global e-commerce expected to grow at 8% CAGR through 2029, we are making targeted investments to scale our network and solutions for businesses of all sizes. IDS Fulfillment enhances our DHL Fulfillment Network with expanded local expertise and operational reach, especially as more global companies seek fulfillment capacity within North America.”

The acquisition brings not only additional warehouse capacity but also a diverse customer base and expanded fulfillment expertise, reinforcing DHL’s leadership in scalable, technology-driven e-commerce solutions.

“These acquisitions reflect our continued commitment to growth in the e-commerce sector and further solidify DHL’s position as the logistics partner of choice for businesses at every stage of growth,” added Kelleher.
