CMA CGM PEX2 Service Enhanced Asia–Caribbean Connectivity

New Direct Calls at Vung Tau and Manzanillo (MX) Boost 2026 Schedule Reliability

CMA CGM has announced a comprehensive reshuffling of its Asia–Caribbean service pattern for 2026. The centerpiece of this update is the optimization of the PEX2 service, which has been redesigned to strengthen schedule reliability and provide deeper market penetration into Mexico and Southeast Asia.

The PEX2 remains a cornerstone of CMA CGM’s network, offering the market’s most extensive direct coverage between the Far East and the Caribbean. By leveraging major transshipment hubs in Kingston, Manzanillo (PA), and Cartagena, the service provides a “one-stop” solution for 33 regional ports across Central America, the Caribbean, and North Brazil.

Strategic Structural Improvements

The 2026 revamp introduces two major structural evolutions to meet shifting trade demands:

  • Direct Vung Tau Call: For the first time, PEX2 will offer a direct link to Vietnam. This addition provides streamlined access for Vietnamese exports and connects the service to Southeast Asia’s wider feeder network.
  • Manzanillo (MX) Expansion: The inclusion of a direct call at Manzanillo, Mexico, offers a dedicated solution for the Mexican import/export market, bypassing traditional transshipment delays.

The definitive 2026 PEX2 rotation is: Vung Tau – Shekou – Hong Kong – Ningbo – Shanghai – Qingdao – Pusan – Manzanillo (MX) – Balboa – Panama Canal – Manzanillo (PA) – Cartagena – Kingston – Caucedo – Vung Tau

Two-Phase Rollout Schedule

To ensure a smooth transition, CMA CGM is implementing the new rotation in two distinct stages:

  • Phase 1 (Weeks 1–7): The new rotation begins with the addition of Vung Tau and Manzanillo (MX). During this window, the service will maintain its call at Singapore to support existing cargo commitments. The first vessel under this setup was the CMA CGM G. WASHINGTON, which departed Vung Tau on 27 December 2025.
  • Phase 2 (Effective 18 February 2026): Full implementation of the proforma schedule. The Singapore call will be removed, and the definitive rotation listed above will take effect, starting with the vessel ETA at Vung Tau.

The first call at Manzanillo, Mexico, is scheduled for 6 February 2026. CMA CGM confirmed that all Caribbean destinations currently served via Latin American transshipment hubs will remain fully accessible throughout the year, ensuring continuity for regional shippers.
