French ocean carrier CMA CGM has announced the launch of its new direct KORA EXPRESS service, designed to accelerate supply chain transit times between Northern Europe and West Africa.
To complement the launch, CMA CGM is repositioning its existing EURAF 5 service to focus exclusively on West Africa’s South Range, providing tailored and dedicated coverage across the region.
Expanded Capacity and High-Speed Connectivity
The KORA EXPRESS operates as a weekly, fully carrier-operated loop using a fleet of 4,200 TEU nominal capacity vessels. The direct service delivers market-leading transit speeds to primary West African markets, including an Antwerp-to-Tema transit time of 15 days.
In addition to direct port calls, the service integrates transshipment capabilities via CMA CGM’s strategic Mediterranean hubs in Tanger Med and Algeciras, linking Northern European cargo to global trade lanes.
Service Rotations and First Maiden Sailing
The maiden voyage of the KORA EXPRESS is scheduled to depart Southampton on August 26, 2026, deployed on the m/v NAVIOS VERANO.
- KORA EXPRESS Rotation: Southampton – Vlissingen – Antwerp – Tanger Med – Algeciras – Tema – Lekki – Cotonou – Dakar
- Repositioned EURAF 5 Rotation: Tanger Med – Nouakchott – Kribi – Libreville – Pointe Noire – Luanda

Strategic Coverage Across West Africa
By separating regional coverage into two targeted services, CMA CGM optimizes its logistics network: KORA EXPRESS handles fast-transit import demand for Ghana, Nigeria, Benin, and Senegal, while the updated EURAF 5 service delivers direct access to key South Range markets across Mauritania, Cameroon, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, and Angola.
