The Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD) has officially launched its Maritime Single Window (MSW) system, a key component of the country’s broader digital transformation agenda. Developed by Kale Logistics Solutions in partnership with Primatel Communication Sdn Bhd, the new platform enables electronic submission, processing, and approval of port clearance documentation via a single digital interface.
The launch ceremony was presided over by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications and Chairman of MPABD.
Speaking at the event, Captain (Ret.) Zil Husam bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive of MPABD, noted that the MSW marks a significant advancement in streamlining maritime administration. “We are taking a major step forward in transforming the way ship clearance processes are conducted in Brunei Darussalam,” he said. “The system aligns with the International Maritime Organization’s FAL Convention and centralises port clearance procedures on a single online platform.”
The launch follows the successful completion of Phase 1 of MPABD’s digitalisation roadmap. Phase 2 will focus on integrating vessel registration, licensing, maritime training, financial services, and online payments into a unified digital system.
Mr. Vineet Malhotra, Director and Co-Founder of Kale Logistics Solutions, stated, “The launch of Brunei’s Maritime Single Window is a major step in the country’s maritime digital transformation. It supports smoother port operations while helping Brunei compete globally and unlock greater trade opportunities.”
Brunei’s ports have experienced a steady increase in vessel traffic, with 2024 recording the highest throughput to date. The MSW aims to ease the administrative burden on shipping lines, port operators, and customs authorities by digitising workflows, expediting cargo release, and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
Built to integrate seamlessly with Brunei’s existing digital infrastructure, the MSW offers a centralised portal for key stakeholders involved in maritime logistics, enabling data transparency and faster decision-making.
Kale, recently recognised as Best Cargo Community System Provider at the CargoNXT Awards in India, now supports digital trade processes across more than 150 global ports and airports. The company’s suite of cargo community systems promotes paperless operations, sustainability, and smarter supply chain management.
