Climate issues have become a significant concern for logistics customers, who are increasingly committed to reducing their carbon emissions. Bolloré Logistics wants to support its customers in decarbonising their supply chain in this context. To this end, through its CSR strategy formalised in its “Powering Sustainable Logistics” program, the company has developed and deployed sustainable supply chain solutions.

“To guarantee the best possible support for our customers in their choice of low-carbon transport and logistics solutions, we wanted to increase the skills of Bolloré Logistics’ promoters and our sales teams on these issues,” says Odile MAAREK, CSR Director at Bolloré Logistics. “To do this, we have created a global training challenge based on four phases: Be Aware, Be Trained, Act, and Catch Up.”

Through the Be Aware phase, the principle is first to raise awareness of climate issues by calculating the carbon footprint of their own household and by participating in Climate Fresks for some of them. Indeed, nearly 200 sales staff took part in these collective intelligence workshops to understand the cause-and-effect links of climate change.

The “Be Trained” phase aims to train the sales staff on Bolloré Logistics’ responses to these challenges: understanding the CSR strategy and knowing the sustainable supply chain solutions so that they can propose them to the company’s customers. The entire global sales population has been invited to a series of 10 thematic live webinars. These interactive webinars are hosted by the CSR community in each company region and in several languages. A total of 45 webinars are scheduled over two months until the end of May. To date, more than 63% of sales representatives have taken part in this voluntary training program.

At the same time, the “Act” phase has been launched; this involves proposing concrete and customised solutions for customers. These actions, recorded in Bolloré Logistics’ internal platform AcTogether, are shared internally as best practices within the network. AcTogether is an annual global inter-country competition in which each employee has the opportunity to carry out sustainable development actions with common objectives on environmental or social themes. As a result, 807 actions were finalised in the previous edition in 2021.

The end of the program will be marked in June by a “Catch Up” phase which, via a personalised chatbot, will allow employees to review the key bits of knowledge covered during the journey while stimulating the teams through challenges.

The program is based on a gamification system that rewards participation and allows participants to climb to different levels of expertise.

Through the B’Sustainable Supply program, Bolloré Logistics wants to mobilise its teams and form a network of “green champions” to integrate climate issues into every link of the supply chain to support its customers for better CO2 efficiency and contribute to the decarbonisation of transport and logistics sector.
