China United Lines (CULines) has officially inaugurated its localized subsidiary, CUL Turkey (Culines Denizcilik Limited Şirketi). The structural opening establishes a permanent commercial and operational anchor at the maritime crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa, marking a major advancement in the carrier’s broader international expansion strategy.
The Istanbul-based entity has been designated as CULines’ Eastern Mediterranean Regional Headquarters. From this strategic base, the subsidiary will manage intercontinental main-line trunk operations north of the Suez Canal alongside a localized network of regional feeder services.
Completing the Europe–Asia–Africa Global Layout
The formal establishment of CUL Turkey follows the successive launch of CUL India, CUL West Asia (Dubai), and CUL Japan subsidiaries over the past twelve months. Together, these localized corporate offices form a contiguous service network designed to provide own-controlled ground and agency operations across the world’s fastest-growing trade corridors.
CULines has established a comprehensive trunk-and-feeder network centered on Turkish ports, anchoring its regional operations around three core scheduled liner services:
- AEM (Adriatic-Egypt-Mediterranean Service): Connecting major Aegean and Adriatic gateways with primary Egyptian transshipment hubs.
- MES (Mediterranean-Egypt-Strait Service): Streamlining trade flows between the Levant, the Nile Delta, and specialized Black Sea ports.
- NAF (North Africa Feeder Service): Facilitating direct, high-frequency cargo movement into expanding industrial consumer markets across North Africa.
Interconnecting Multi-Regional Trade Corridors
By utilizing Turkey’s unique geographic position, the carrier can efficiently relay cargo across four major global economic zones: the Red Sea, the Middle East (West Asia), Southeast Asia, and Northeast Asia.
The integrated hub allows manufacturing and raw material exporters to move freight seamlessly between Turkey and an array of global trading partners, including Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, the UAE, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam, and mainland China. This multi-regional connectivity provides international supply chain managers with more predictable routing alternatives and insulated slot allocations during periods of global maritime bottlenecking.
Deploying Trilingual Operations and Digitalization Upgrades
The transition to full, independent localized operations comes after a successful soft-launch phase that commenced in July 2025. To eliminate cross-border communication barriers and accelerate port-side documentation clearance, CUL Turkey has deployed a specialized on-site team capable of executing real-time customer service in three core languages: Chinese, English, and Turkish.
Following the grand opening, the subsidiary is accelerating its digital integration strategy. The company will progressively launch a localized Turkish-language web platform alongside the rollout of its proprietary Sherry Lee intelligent customer service system. This combined digital and localized approach is engineered to provide shippers with one-stop port services, real-time container tracking, and automated booking confirmations to drive greater operational efficiency.
