TS Lines has marked a significant milestone in its fleet renewal strategy with the naming and delivery of its newest vessel, the TS Kelang. The ceremony took place on April 9 at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, marking the induction of the seventh vessel in this specific 7,000 TEU series.
The delivery highlights the carrier’s commitment to modernizing its fleet with high-capacity, eco-friendly tonnage to support its growing presence in the Southeast Asian market.

A Partnership Built on Port Kelang Ties
The vessel was officially named by its godmother, Puan Sri Siew Yong Gnanalingam, a member of the founding family of Westports Holdings. Westports is a premier terminal operator at Port Klang and a vital transshipment hub for the region.
The selection of Puan Sri Siew Yong Gnanalingam as the vessel’s godmother underscores the deep and long-standing partnership between TS Lines and Westports. This collaboration remains a cornerstone of TS Lines’ ability to provide reliable, high-frequency connectivity across Southeast Asian shipping routes.

Eco-Friendly Engineering and Sustainable Design
Designed by the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI), the TS Kelang integrates several cutting-edge technologies aimed at reducing the environmental impact of maritime operations:
- S-BOW Hull Design: Optimizes hydrodynamic performance to reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency.
- Wind Deflector: Minimizes aerodynamic resistance, further lowering energy consumption.
- IMO Tier III Compliance: Features advanced emission-control systems that significantly reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, meeting the strictest international environmental standards.

Strengthening the Asia Service Network
The TS Kelang is set to join TS Lines’ extensive Asia service network immediately. By introducing larger, more efficient vessels, the company aims to enhance its service reliability and provide greater capacity for shippers moving goods through key regional hubs.
As TS Lines continues its transition toward a more sustainable and technologically advanced fleet, the addition of the TS Kelang serves as a vital building block in the company’s long-term growth strategy for the Indo-Pacific region.
