OOCL has launched its new Asia-East Africa Service 8 (EAX8), introducing direct connections between key Indian ports and major East African markets.
The new service links Nhava Sheva and Mundra in India with Mombasa in Kenya and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, expanding OOCL’s connectivity across the India-East Africa trade.
Introducing a Two-Loop Network
EAX8 operates with a butterfly network structure comprising two separate loops, providing weekly coverage of both Mombasa and Dar es Salaam.
The Mombasa Loop commenced from Nhava Sheva on 22 September 2026, followed by the Dar es Salaam Loop on 23 September.
According to OOCL, the dual-loop structure is designed to improve schedule reliability and operational flexibility while providing customers with direct access to key East African gateways.

The new service strengthens OOCL’s regional network and provides additional routing options for customers moving cargo between India and East Africa.
