MSC recently announced a major overhaul of its Asia-Oceania network to provide faster and more reliable services to customers operating in China, Southeast Asia, and Oceania.

As part of the reshuffle, the Wallaby service will be revamped and relaunched as a standalone service. This enhancement will offer faster and more direct connections between Australia, New Zealand, and North Asia. The revised rotation will also ensure comprehensive coverage of New Zealand ports, including Bluff, and seamless connections to the global network through main hubs in Hong Kong, Yantian, Shanghai, and Ningbo.

The first sailing is scheduled to depart from Hong Kong on 19 August 2024 with the MSC TANIA voyage KN434A.

In addition to the Wallaby service, the Noumea Express service will be improved by including Tauranga and Nelson calls, providing more options for travel to and from New Caledonia and Fiji. The new rotation for this service includes stops in Sydney, Brisbane, Noumea, Suva, Lautoka, Nelson, Tauranga, and Bell Bay.

Furthermore, MSC has temporarily suspended the Capricorn and Kiwi Express services until further notice. The last Capricorn sailing will depart from Singapore on 20 August 2024 with the MSC MANU voyage FC434A, and the last Kiwi Express sailing will depart from Laem Chabang on 20 August 2024 with the AS CALIFORNIA voyage KE434A.

It’s important to note that for import shipments to Australia’s West Coast (Fremantle and Adelaide), customers will continue to be served via Sydney on the Australia Express service, while export shipments will remain via Singapore.
