Maersk has opened World Gateway II, a 1.1 million sq ft fully automated global and regional distribution centre in Singapore, expanding its contract logistics and e-commerce fulfilment capabilities across Asia Pacific.

The new facility is designed to support B2B and B2C fulfilment for customers using Singapore as a regional or global distribution hub. It will handle products across sectors, including lifestyle, FMCG, retail, wellness and technology.

Strengthening Regional Distribution Capacity

World Gateway II is located close to key transport infrastructure, including Tuas Port and Changi Airport, and sits near Maersk’s existing one million sq ft World Gateway regional distribution centre.

The facility is equipped with automation technologies, including a multi-shuttle system, an automated storage and retrieval system, and autonomous case-handling robots. These systems are intended to improve order fulfilment speed, accuracy and operational scalability.

Maersk has invested more than S$200 million in the development, which has reached around 70% occupancy. Once fully operational, the site is expected to create approximately 500 jobs involving digital and automation capabilities.

Supporting Singapore’s Logistics Hub Role

World Gateway II includes bonded and zero-GST warehouse storage, end-to-end transport management, real-time shipment visibility, value-added services such as labelling, kitting and repacking, and an integrated warehouse management system.

The facility is also LEED Platinum and Green Mark Platinum certified, with features including solar panels, smart LED lighting and energy-efficient insulation. It has achieved Transported Asset Protection Association Class A certification for secure warehousing.

The opening further strengthens Maersk’s logistics footprint in Singapore and supports the country’s role as a regional distribution and supply chain hub for Asia Pacific.
