Facility Enhances Pickup and Delivery Services Near One of North America’s Fastest-Growing Port Gateways
Maersk has successfully integrated its new Ground Freight (MGF) Station into the Savannah logistics landscape, marking a key milestone in the company’s expansion of its U.S. integrated network. The facility, which officially opened in December 2025, follows similar recent launches in Lake City, Georgia, and Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas.
The 20,000-square-foot station is specifically designed to provide specialized pickup and delivery (PU&D) services for the Savannah market. Equipped with three loading docks and a dedicated vehicle fleet, the site offers local businesses enhanced control over their first- and last-mile logistics, bridging the gap between port operations and final destinations.
Strategic Integration with Regional Infrastructure
The station is strategically positioned to leverage Savannah’s role as a premier maritime and land-based hub. Located near the Port of Savannah, the facility provides immediate access to I-95 and I-16, facilitating rapid transit to major Southeastern economic centers, including:
- Atlanta, GA
- Jacksonville, FL
- Charleston, SC
- Charlotte, NC
By embedding this new station into its existing Contract Logistics footprint in Savannah, Maersk has created a more resilient regional ecosystem. The hub serves as a critical link, allowing for a seamless transition of goods from international ocean vessels to domestic ground transport under a single provider.
Scaling the North American Ground Freight Network
The Savannah opening is part of a broader national strategy to simplify complex supply chains through a single point of contact. Bob Livingston, Head of Maersk Ground Freight Operations, North America, noted that the facility is an essential component in building a connected network that delivers streamlined, integrated solutions for customers.
With more than 65 ground freight facilities now operating across North America, Maersk continues to prioritize regional hubs that provide end-to-end visibility. This “one partner” approach aims to reduce the administrative and operational complexity of multi-vendor logistics, providing shippers with greater speed and transparency throughout the delivery process.
