LEO Global Logistics PCL signed Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Yunnan Tengjun Multimodal Transport Holding Ltd. to co-develop a rail freight system connecting fruits and E-commerce goods from Thailand to China.

Yunnan Tengjun Multimodal Transport Holding Ltd. is a Chinese state enterprise and a 5A-class logistics provider in charge of ‘Gallops International Land Port’ – a logistics hub in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province. With a total investment of 1.1 billion Yuan, the estate spans 2,444,800 SQM and functions as an important land transportation hub for the province. From this hub, goods can be distributed across China, with the possibility of crossing over to Europe.

Under this agreement, Yunnan Tengjun will provide customs clearance services and domestic distribution across China. In addition, cross-border transportation services between Thailand and China via train and truck will also be developed to accommodate LEO’s growing demand for containerized transportation of dry and reefer boxes. The parties are undergoing an experimental tryout, while the full operation is expected to commence by October 2022.

At the same time, Yunnan Tengjun is building a platform to boost sales of perishables and other Thai cargo, expecting to increase cargo volumes and expand the market for Thai-China cross-border transportation in the near future.

“Under this partnership, LEO will benefit from the ability to make a difference to the market beyond our competitors’ thanks to our alliance’s competitive operating costs and the capability to serve both import and export cargo comprehensively across Thailand and China. As a result, we will be able to support Thai exporters in sending more goods to China and promote business growth simultaneously. With this strategic cooperation, we aim to generate annual growth of at least THB 100 million by 2023,” said Mr Kettivit Sittisoontornwong, founder and CEO of LEO Global Logistics PC
