“K” LINE Fire Response Drill Laem Chabang Port

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) participated in an onboard fire response drill at Berth A5 of Namyong Terminal to enhance emergency preparedness. The exercise, held on the car carrier BALTIMORE HIGHWAY, focused on simulating a fire during cargo handling and a subsequent search-and-rescue operation for a missing worker.

The drill was designed to test the coordination between various agencies, including the ship’s crew, Namyong Terminal PCL, the Marine Department of Thailand’s Vessel Traffic Control and Maritime Security Office (VTCMSO), the Port Authority of Thailand, and local fire and emergency medical services.

Strengthening Inter-Agency Coordination

The exercise included firefighting procedures and rescue efforts to ensure a comprehensive response. Participating organizations practiced fire response protocols and information sharing to confirm their ability to respond swiftly and safely to an emergency.

“K” LINE’s participation in the drill is part of a broader safety initiative to strengthen collaboration with relevant parties globally. The company aims to enhance the safety of port cargo handling and vessel operations and contribute to the protection of the marine environment.
