Indian Semiconductor Mission Delegation NX Group Headquarters

Nippon Express Holdings hosted a delegation from the Indian Semiconductor Mission (ISM) at the NX Group Building for discussions on potential logistics collaboration to support India’s semiconductor sector. The visit took place on 17 December and focused on the development of logistics and warehouse infrastructure in the Dholera area of Gujarat.

The discussions explored the possibility of establishing a semiconductor-focused logistics hub in Dholera, a designated Special Investment Region located along the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor. The area is being developed as an industrial cluster for semiconductor and electronic component manufacturing, supported by expanding rail, road and port infrastructure.

NX Group representatives outlined the company’s existing footprint in India, where it operates more than 100 business locations and 60 warehouses across 39 cities. The group has identified India as a key market within its long-term global strategy and has set a target to significantly expand revenues from its Indian operations by 2028.

ISM representatives provided an overview of India’s semiconductor development strategy, including the government’s Semicon India Programme and the expanded “ISM 2.0” framework, which extends support beyond chip manufacturing to areas such as advanced packaging, equipment, materials and chemicals. The initiative aims to attract global participation, including from Japanese companies, to strengthen India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.

The ISM delegation was led by Chief Executive Officer Amitesh Kumar Sinha and was received by Nippon Express Holdings Executive Officer Yasuhiro Okanishi and NX Group India Representative Teruaki Nagoya. Topics discussed included warehouse development plans in Dholera, progress on rail connectivity, potential government support mechanisms, land utilisation and possible expansion into other regions.

Both parties agreed to continue strengthening cooperation with a view to enhancing logistics infrastructure to support the growth of India’s semiconductor industry.
