Global logistics provider DP World has acquired 700 new trucks to expand its road freight network across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), strengthening landside transport links between regional ports, economic zones, and inland customer facilities.
The progressive deployment will add up to 35,000 truck trips per month, supporting both domestic and cross-border movements across first, middle, and last-mile requirements. The added capacity complements DP World’s existing operations, which currently manage roughly 3,000 truck movements daily across the region.
Multimodal Infrastructure and Supply Chain Resilience
The investment aligns with DP World’s long-term strategy to integrate ocean terminals, inland warehouses, economic zones, and digital platforms into a unified end-to-end supply chain network.
The expanded fleet handles both containerized and non-containerized cargo, including general freight, vehicles, and perishables. To improve efficiency and environmental standards, the newly deployed vehicles meet Euro V emissions standards, with DP World evaluating green-energy fleet alternatives for future iterations.
Ahmad Yousef Al-Hassan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC, noted that the fleet expansion represents a long-term investment in the group’s multimodal network and regional trade partners. He explained that as GCC demand continues to grow, scaling operational capabilities ensures customers have access to an integrated, reliable logistics network at every stage of the supply chain.
Mitigating Maritime Disruption Through Overland Corridors
The land-based expansion follows recent operational measures by DP World to build supply chain resilience following regional maritime disruptions.
To keep trade moving, the company recently established fast-track bonded corridors linking east coast gateways directly to Jebel Ali Port, set up a bonded corridor from Sohar in Oman, and leveraged Red Sea routing via Jeddah Islamic Port’s South Container Terminal. Together, these overland routing initiatives have moved over 350,000 TEUs to maintain cargo flows during ocean transport bottlenecks.
Raveen Guliani, COO of Logistics at DP World GCC, emphasized that cargo owners are seeking greater certainty, reliability, efficiency, and sustainability across their supply chains. He highlighted that the ability to seamlessly transfer goods, vehicles, and temperature-controlled freight across connected ports and inland warehouses provides the exact end-to-end reliability the market requires.
