deugro Germany has successfully delivered three mobile harbor cranes and one portal crane from Rostock, Germany, to Brisbane and Port Kembla in Australia, and to Timaru and Port Nelson in New Zealand. The cranes, with significant dimensions and weights, totaled over 2,000 metric tons and 238,160.610 cubic meters in volume.
To transport these oversized and heavy lift components, deugro’s Chartering team selected the UHL Fable, a new F900 Eco-Lifter class vessel built in 2024, which complies with IMO Tier III standards. This shipment marked the vessel’s second ocean voyage.
The complexity of loading and lashing different crane types with varying sizes on limited deck space was a major challenge. deugro enlisted dteq Transport Engineering Solutions (dteq) to ensure safe and efficient operations. dteq engineers reviewed technical documentation, supervised on-site operations, and managed communication between the carrier and manufacturer.
The tight stowage and intricate lashing arrangements required meticulous preparation and precise execution. dteq’s Marine Transport Engineer, Sorour Elagami, emphasized the importance of teamwork and attention to detail.
Christine Steenken, Head of Projects at deugro Germany, confirmed that through detailed preparation and close coordination, all four cranes were safely and timely delivered according to schedule and budget.
