In a recent project, DB Schenker delivered critical power station equipment from China and Japan to Queensland, Australia. The Toshiba-made power station equipment – made up of a heavy Transformer weighing 259 tonnes, a Generator at 262 tonnes, and its accessories, was successfully delivered to a Power Station in Central Queensland, Australia.
DB Schenker Project Manager Bernd Schuler says, “A difficult but ultimately rewarding project requiring out-of-the-box thinking with engineered solutions we executed with our premium partners in 50,000 manhours incident and injury free to the full satisfaction of all stakeholders. Our end-to-end solution for the generator from Japan and transformer from China, bridging a travel distance of over 8,845km by heavy lift vessels to Australia, a transhipping barge operation at Gladstone port and the most challenging part for last – the 302 km on the road requiring a specialised Girder trailer at transport length of 116m and weighing 665t to the power station in the Queensland hinterland”.
