COSCO SHIPPING Digital Green Initiatives China Maritime Day

COSCO SHIPPING played a central role in the 21st annual China Maritime Day, which was held in Boao, Hainan Province, on July 11. The event, themed “Green Navigation Towards New Progress,” brought together global industry leaders to discuss the future of the maritime sector.

During the China Maritime Forum, Mr. Zhu Bixin, Director of the Board and President of COSCO SHIPPING, delivered a keynote speech on the importance of a digital supply chain for global logistics. He highlighted the company’s focus on green, low-carbon, and intelligent development, as well as its efforts to create a new, sustainable ecosystem for global trade.

New Platforms and Exhibitions

COSCO SHIPPING used the forum as a platform to announce its commitment to building “three major platforms”: a global digital supply chain platform, a full-life-cycle digital intelligent ship operations platform, and a global talent development platform. These initiatives are designed to leverage digital and green technologies to drive the industry’s transformation.

In a related event, the first “COSCO SHIPPING Cup” Sailor’s Knot Competition was held on July 9, where participants showcased their knot-tying skills. Additionally, the new China Maritime Museum’s Digital Exhibition Hall in Boao, jointly developed by COSCO SHIPPING, officially opened. The exhibition uses digital technology to compare historical maritime progress, from Admiral Zheng He’s voyages to modern intelligent vessels, and includes interactive displays of COSCO’s digital achievements.

As part of the celebrations, the M.V. XIN HONG ZHUAN embarked on a cultural exhibition voyage to honor the Maritime Silk Road. More than 40 teenagers from areas assisted by COSCO SHIPPING also attended the events to experience maritime culture firsthand.
