CMA CGM New Direct Vung Tau Call MEX1 Service

CMA CGM has announced a major upgrade to its Mediterranean Club Express 1 (MEX1) service by introducing a new, exclusive direct call at Vung Tau, Vietnam (VUT). This strategic addition makes CMA CGM the only carrier currently offering a direct service from Vung Tau to the Mediterranean market, significantly reinforcing its leadership in the region.

The new call will be handled at CMA CGM’s proprietary facility, the Gemalink Terminal, a deep-water container terminal within the Cai Mep–Thi Vai port complex. This terminal call offers customers a unique solution with competitive transit times to key Mediterranean hubs.

Enhanced Service and Coverage

The first vessel on the upgraded MEX1 rotation to call Vung Tau will be the m/v “CMA CGM JULES VERNE” (voyage 0MEM3W1MA), with an estimated arrival date of October 27.

The direct service offers fast transit times to major Mediterranean destinations:

  • Valencia: ETA November 25 (approximately 29 days transit)
  • Barcelona: ETA November 28
  • Fos-sur-Mer: ETA November 30
  • Malta: ETA December 5

Seamless Cambodia Integration

In addition to the Vung Tau direct call, CMA CGM is simultaneously enhancing its coverage in Cambodia. The company is utilizing a fast barge service from Phnom Penh to its Vung Tau terminal, offering competitive transit times and seamless integration for Cambodian cargo into the global MEX1 network.

By combining the Phnom Penh–Vung Tau barge connectivity, the high-capacity MEX core loop vessels, and strategic terminals in the Mediterranean (Valencia, Fos-sur-Mer, Malta), CMA CGM is positioned to deliver a best-in-class service for customers trading between Southeast Asia and the Mediterranean.
