Chancay Port Zero Damage Zero Delay Delivery

COSCO SHIPPING has successfully completed the delivery of the first large-scale shipment of vehicles at Chancay Port, marking a significant advancement in the China-Latin America automobile shipping route. The shipment, consisting of 200 Geely vehicles transported in 50 high-capacity containers, arrived with “zero damage and zero delay.”

To manage the complexities of end-to-end transportation and the inaugural large-scale vehicle container devanning at Chancay Port, COSCO SHIPPING’s various units established a dedicated joint task force. This task force developed a “three-dimensional integration” support mechanism, focusing on technical, procedural, and service-level enhancements.

Technical Refinements

  • The team developed a comprehensive solution for loading and unloading processes at both ports.
  • They established vehicle inspection protocols and customized solutions to meet client needs.
  • They refined the tools used for devanning and the format of documentation.

Procedural Collaboration

  • The task force proactively engaged with local consignees to understand their specific devanning requirements.
  • They collaborated closely with the Commerce Department and Operations Department of Chancay Port.
  • They meticulously planned the timeline for each stage of the logistics chain.

Service-Level Innovation

  • A “24-hour dynamic tracking” system was implemented, enabling digital communication and real-time operational updates between the Chinese and Peruvian teams.

This streamlined management of the entire supply chain resulted in significant transportation cost reductions for Geely Auto, improved control and visibility over logistics operations, and enhanced operational efficiency. COSCO SHIPPING’s team’s professionalism and expertise throughout the project earned high praise and customer trust.

The success of this project, the first vehicle container devanning and delivery since Chancay Port’s opening, provides a replicable supply chain model for other local automakers entering the Latin American market. COSCO SHIPPING aims to leverage Chancay Port as a strategic hub to refine its South American route network and further its integrated “shipping + port + logistics” development strategy, supporting both domestic and international trade.
