CEVA Logistics Autonomous Vehicle-Handling Robots

CEVA Logistics has announced a multi-year partnership with robotics specialist STRADOT to deploy two autonomous conveyor robots at its finished vehicle logistics (FVL) hub in Nanteuil-le-Haudouin, France. The innovative system will begin operation in September 2025 and is designed to automate vehicle handling and optimise yard efficiency across 2,000 dedicated parking slots.

The STRADOT robots will autonomously manage the internal movement of finished vehicles from reception to storage, and from storage to outbound shipping lanes. Operating within a secure, enclosed section of the site, the system is expected to handle several thousand vehicle movements each month, reducing manual processes and enhancing overall throughput.

Unlike traditional automated systems, the STRADOT robots are capable of lifting vehicles and straddling those already parked, eliminating the need for wide access lanes and thereby increasing both storage density and manoeuvring capacity. This capability enables CEVA to maximise the utility of its parking area while minimising land usage and traffic congestion.

The deployment follows a successful pilot test conducted at CEVA’s FVL facility in Loyette in May 2024. During the trial, the solution demonstrated strong performance in space optimisation, process efficiency, and environmental impact, thanks to its use of electric, low-emission vehicles.

“This partnership with STRADOT is another step forward in our mission to integrate cutting-edge technologies into our operations,” said Thomas Maître, Head of Product Development for Finished Vehicle Logistics at CEVA. “By automating internal vehicle movements, we aim to boost efficiency, improve safety, and offer greater value to our automotive customers.”

Mr. José Iriarte, CEO and Co-founder of STRADOT, added: “We’re proud to support CEVA Logistics in transforming the way finished vehicles are handled. This collaboration shows how robotics can revolutionise logistics by enabling smarter land use and more efficient movement within complex industrial environments.”

CEVA’s Nanteuil-le-Haudouin platform is one of several automotive logistics sites operated by the company across Europe. The investment in STRADOT’s robotics is part of CEVA’s broader commitment to innovation and sustainability across its global operations.
