Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation showcased its latest cold chain technologies and reefer services at Asia Fruit Logistica 2026, held from 2–4 September at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.
The company used the event to engage with fresh produce exporters, importers and logistics partners while highlighting its ongoing investment in smart reefer technology and temperature-controlled transport solutions.
Enhancing Visibility with Smart Reefer Technology
Under its Fresh Forward service approach, Yang Ming uses IoT-enabled technology to monitor temperature, humidity, ventilation and equipment status in real time.
The system can issue alerts when abnormal conditions are detected, helping customers maintain greater visibility over cargo conditions throughout the transport process.
Yang Ming also operates reefers equipped with Controlled Atmosphere (CA) technology, which regulates conditions inside the container to slow the ripening process and help maintain the quality of fresh produce during long-distance transportation.
Expanding Reefer Capacity
The carrier continues to add new smart reefer units to its fleet as part of a broader programme to strengthen cold chain capacity and service reliability.
New units are equipped with energy-efficient compressors designed to reduce power consumption. Selected reefers also use R-513A refrigerant, which has a lower Global Warming Potential than conventional alternatives.
Supporting More Sustainable Cold Chains
Yang Ming said it will continue investing in smart technologies, temperature control and preservation solutions to improve the efficiency and reliability of its cold chain services.
The company is also incorporating lower-emission technologies into its reefer fleet as part of its broader response to decarbonisation and climate-related challenges across the shipping industry.
