Port operator PSA Singapore has received the final batch of automated rail-mounted gantry cranes (aRMGs) for Phase 1 of Tuas Port, marking the completion of a six-year procurement and installation program that began in 2020.
The milestone completes the primary equipment deployment required for yard operations across the first phase of Singapore’s flagship mega-port development.
Scale of Operations and Yard Infrastructure
The delivery brings the total operational fleet of yard cranes to 208 aRMGs within Phase 1:
- Automation Footprint: Fully automated gantry units handle container stacking, yard positioning, and horizontal transport coordination to optimize container throughput and yard productivity.
- Strategic Network Integration: The automated yard assets support PSA’s broader “Node to Network” (N2N) strategic roadmap, designed to link terminal operations seamlessly into global supply chain networks.
- Project Timeline: Successfully executed across a six-year phased delivery schedule despite supply chain disruptions during the initial pandemic deployment phase.
