OOCL Three Industry Accolades Hong Kong Marine Department HKSOA Ceremony

Ocean liner Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) received three major industry honors at the Joint Luncheon cum Award Presentation Ceremony 2026, co-hosted by the Hong Kong Marine Department and the Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSOA).

The annual flagship gathering brought together around 240 maritime executives, government officials, and industry leaders to recognize operational excellence and promote the services of the Hong Kong Shipping Register (HKSR) and HKSOA.

Industry Recognition and Operational Milestones

OOCL was recognized across three key categories honoring flag support, operational safety, and maritime talent development:

  • Award for the Shipowner Placing the Most Gross Tonnage (GT) on the HKSR in 2025: Reaffirms OOCL’s ongoing commitment to registered fleet growth under the Hong Kong Flag.
  • Award for Outstanding Performance in Port State Control (PSC) for 2025: Highlights the carrier’s strict adherence to international maritime safety, technical compliance, and ship management standards.
  • Award for Company Recruiting the Most Hong Kong Sea-Going Cadets in 2025: Commends OOCL’s active role in training and developing young maritime professionals in the region.

Advancing Hong Kong as an International Maritime Hub

The awards underscore OOCL’s role in strengthening Hong Kong’s status as a top global shipping center. By placing significant gross tonnage on the HKSR while maintaining high Port State Control compliance, the carrier reinforces the quality standards of the Hong Kong fleet.
