Intra-Asia shipping specialist CNC, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group, has marked the successful expansion of its regional network with the maiden call of its enhanced BBX3 service at the Port of Kuala Tanjung in North Sumatra. The updated maritime rotation officially commenced with the arrival and berthing of the container vessel CMA CGM FUJI on 11 May 2026.

The service upgrade introduces a regular, bi-weekly call at Kuala Tanjung. This addition establishes a direct maritime pipeline for industrial cargo owners in North Sumatra looking to capture expanding regional trade opportunities across Vietnam and South China.
Strategic Positioning Along the Malacca Strait
Kuala Tanjung is strategically situated directly along the Malacca Strait, serving as a primary maritime gateway designed to link Indonesia’s expanding industrial production zones with international consumer markets.
By embedding this port into the BBX3 schedule, CNC provides raw material producers and manufacturing exporters in Sumatra with reliable slot allocations and structured transit options. The direct call eliminates the logistical bottlenecks and added domestic trucking costs typically associated with moving containerized cargo to distant alternative ports of departure.
Hub-and-Spoke Global Network Integration
The revamped service loop is engineered to balance direct market access with comprehensive international transshipment options. Shippers utilizing the Kuala Tanjung gateway gain:
- Direct East Asian Connections: Rapid transit windows linking Indonesian factories directly with industrial centers in Vietnam and South China.
- Global Transshipment Access: Seamless hub integration via the major transshipment ports of Singapore and Port Klang. This links local Sumatran cargo directly into the CMA CGM Group’s mainline global shipping network, connecting North Sumatra to long-haul trade lanes across Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East.
Revised BBX3 Comprehensive Port Rotation
The inclusion of the Indonesian port updates the active liner schedule into a highly synchronized loop covering core manufacturing sectors across Southeast and East Asia:
Updated BBX3 Service Loop: Nansha – Shekou – Chittagong – Kuala Tanjung – Singapore – Port Klang – Da Nang – Nghi Son – Haiphong – Nansha

The operational launch comes amid a steady upward trend in trade volumes moving between Indonesian manufacturers and suppliers across mainland China and Vietnam. CNC will manage the capacity expansions by monitoring local cargo booking trends, ensuring scheduled container space availability to back bilateral regional supply chain growth.
