Pacific International Lines (PIL) and PSA International, supported by DNV, have launched Singapore’s first joint land-sea green value-added service for cargo transhipped through the Port of Singapore.
The service is designed to help shippers and cargo owners reduce Scope 3 emissions by allocating verified emissions reductions generated through the use of lower-carbon fuels across shipping, port and landside logistics operations.
Supporting Supply Chain Decarbonisation
Trials for the service are scheduled to begin in May 2026. The initiative follows a memorandum of understanding signed in March 2025 between PIL, PSA and DNV to support carbon emissions measurement and reporting in the maritime sector.
PIL will contribute through vessel deployment, fuel selection and voyage execution, while PSA will support lower-emission terminal and landside operations across its port and supply chain network.
DNV will provide digital capabilities to support standardised data flows and independent verification of maritime emissions data.
Providing Verifiable Emissions Reductions
The service aims to offer cargo owners a transparent way to address emissions within the wider supply chain, particularly for cargo transhipped through Singapore.
Lionel Patrice Chatelet, Chief Commercial Officer at PIL, said the initiative enables customers to access lower-carbon shipping solutions through measurable emissions reductions linked to PIL’s operations.
Eddy Ng, Group Head of Operations, Technology and Sustainability at PSA, said the collaboration supports the development of low-carbon maritime supply chains and reinforces Singapore’s role in sustainable trade.
Mikkel Skou, Executive Director of Veracity by DNV, added that standardised and verifiable data would be central to building trust and transparency across maritime decarbonisation efforts.
