OOCL has officially launched its new Southeast Asia – Indian Subcontinent Service (SIS), marking a significant milestone as the company’s first dedicated Southeast Asia service to connect the west coast of India and Pakistan. The service commenced on April 24, 2026, and is now fully operational within OOCL’s regional network.
The SIS loop was established to provide shippers with an efficient and reliable direct link between major Southeast Asian hubs and the critical markets of the Indian Subcontinent.
Enhanced Connectivity for India and Pakistan
The introduction of the SIS service specifically addresses the growing trade demand between Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, India, and Pakistan. By offering a direct connection, OOCL is helping customers reduce transit times and streamline their supply chains across the region.
The SIS service follows a strategic port rotation:
Laem Chabang – Singapore – Port Klang – Nhava Sheva – Mundra – Karachi – Port Klang – Singapore – Laem Chabang
Strategic Hubs and Market Reach
The rotation is designed to link the most vital maritime gateways in both regions:
- Southeast Asian Links: Direct calls to Laem Chabang, Singapore, and Port Klang ensure that Thai and Malaysian exporters have high-speed access to South Asian markets.
- Indian West Coast Access: The service provides reliable entry into Nhava Sheva and Mundra, India’s premier container ports, facilitating smoother logistics for the country’s industrial heartlands.
- Pakistan Connectivity: The inclusion of Karachi strengthens OOCL’s presence in Pakistan, offering a dedicated maritime bridge to Southeast Asian consumption centers.
Supporting Regional Trade Growth
The launch of the SIS service reflects OOCL’s ongoing commitment to optimizing its Intra-Asia network. By providing a direct and frequent connection, the carrier is enabling more resilient trade flows and supporting the expansion of businesses operating in these high-growth corridors.
The service is now active and ready to handle the increasing volume of goods moving between these key economic zones, providing the reliability and efficiency that OOCL customers have come to expect.
