The Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) marked a pivotal moment in its expansion efforts with the successful arrival of the vessel Zhenhua 35. This shipment brought critical equipment for the terminal’s growth, including four advanced Super Post-Panamax ZPMC Quay Cranes. These state-of-the-art cranes feature an impressive 72-meter boom outreach, capable of handling twin 65-ton containers and heavy lifts of up to 100 tons. Additionally, six electric Rubber-Tyred Gantry (eRTG) cranes, designed with cutting-edge automation and remote-control capabilities, were part of the delivery.

SCCT CEO Keld Mosgaard Christensen expressed enthusiasm about the new equipment, highlighting that the cranes not only represent technological advancements but also signify SCCT’s dedication to enhancing its operational capabilities to meet the challenges of the evolving global trade landscape. “This milestone showcases our vision for growth and innovation,” Christensen stated, reflecting on SCCT’s commitment to adapting to the demands of the industry.

The expansion project is expected to have a substantial impact on both local and regional economies, emphasizing SCCT’s position as a key player in global trade facilitation. Project Director Pillarisetti Ravindranath noted that the expansion would strengthen SCCT’s essential role, acknowledging the dedication of the approximately 3,500 professionals working at the terminal daily.

In collaboration with local partners, SCCT aims to elevate standards of efficiency and reliability within the industry. This milestone not only enhances SCCT’s operational capabilities but also marks a significant investment in the future of the communities it serves.
