MSC Delivers Empty Containers in Support of Thai Logistics via Lion Service

Amidst the global container shortage issue, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) a global leader in container shipping and logistics, recently took part in supporting the Thai logistics industry and the nation’s economy by providing 4,000 empty containers and collecting 8,000 tons of cargo from Thai exporters to deliver worldwide.

In return, as an appreciation from Laem Chabang Port, a welcoming event for MSC Amsterdam was held On May 26th, 2021, at Hutchison Ports Thailand’s Terminal D.

Mr. Jurin Laksanawisit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce joined the welcoming event as a president to observe the loading-unloading operations and revealed the Thai Government’s solution to the container shortage issue to the Thai press.

MSC Amsterdam is a 399-meter-Ultra Large container vessel. For this empty container delivery, she operates under Lion Service. The service route starts from Lehavre to Antwerp – Felixstowe – Algeciras – Suez – Singapore – LCB – Yantian and finishes at Ningbo.

MSC Amsterdam berthed at Laem Chabang Port on May 25th, 2021 and was scheduled to call at Yantian on May 27th, 2021.

MSC has scheduled two more Ultra Large vessels to dock at Laem Chabang Port to deliver more empty containers in the near future. MSC Svena (395-meter-container vessel) is set to arrive at Laem Chabang Port on June 4th, 2021, while MSC Mirja (398-meter-container vessel) is scheduled to arrive at Laem Chabang Port on June 16th, 2021.
