NX China Environmental Commitment Tree-Planting

Nippon Express (China) Co., Ltd. (NX China), a subsidiary of NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, INC., has reinforced its sustainability efforts through a series of large-scale tree-planting activities across both South and North China, aligning its environmental commitments with growing expectations for logistics providers to contribute to local communities and broader ESG objectives.

The initiatives, carried out in March and April 2025, reflect NX Group’s broader strategy of embedding environmental stewardship and social responsibility directly into its operations. As global supply chains increasingly prioritize sustainability, logistics companies like NX China are extending their role beyond freight management into proactive environmental engagement at the local level.

In South China, NX China collaborated with the South China Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Guangzhou, where 30 employees and their families planted 33 chinaberry trees. The event included educational briefings from botanical experts on the environmental benefits of chinaberry trees, underscoring the importance of biodiversity preservation in urban ecosystems.

Simultaneously, NX China organized tree-planting activities at four locations across North China — Beijing, Tianjin, Qingdao, and Dalian — engaging 154 employees who collectively planted more than 100 trees across multiple species including pine, ginkgo, magnolia, persimmon, apricot, peach, and cherry. The events also featured ecology-themed quiz contests, combining environmental education with team-building for employees.

“As the logistics sector evolves under increasing environmental scrutiny, initiatives like these reflect NX Group’s recognition of its broader social and ecological responsibilities beyond core transportation services,” the company stated. “Sustainability must be woven into both our business operations and community relationships.”

With international regulatory frameworks such as Scope 3 emissions reporting, carbon border adjustments, and corporate ESG audits placing greater pressure on supply chain partners, logistics providers are being called upon to demonstrate measurable environmental contributions. Programs like NX China’s tree-planting drive not only advance carbon offsetting goals but also strengthen local stakeholder relationships as the company deepens its presence in one of Asia’s largest logistics markets.

The NX Group continues to position its environmental and social programs as core pillars of its long-term strategy, actively pursuing sustainability initiatives that contribute to both global climate objectives and the development of resilient, community-centered logistics networks.
