MSC Enhances Intra-Asia Network

MSC continuously expands and enhances its intra-Asia network to offer customers new direct connections, improved transit times, and increased capacity. The upgraded services are scheduled to be implemented in June 2023.

This latest revamp of MSC’s intra-Asia network will result in four services calling at Thailand’s ‘Laem Chabang Port.’ Among these services, the Kaguya and Seahorse services will make their inaugural calls in Thailand, while the Seagull and Pertiwi services will continue with updated rotations as part of the existing offerings. The first sailings and upgrades of these services will be as follows:

• Kaguya service

The Kaguya service will be enhanced with a direct and fast connection from Central China to the main Vietnamese ports, offering a competitive proforma transit time of 6 days. Additionally, the upgraded service will provide direct connections between Vietnam and Thailand to The Philippines within the same 6-day timeframe, along with expanded coverage from The Philippines to Japan. The first sailing of the Kaguya service will be operated by MSC JASMINE, on voyage HG326A, with an estimated arrival time in Tokyo on June 27.

The port rotation for the Kaguya service is as follows:

Tokyo – Shimizu – Osaka – Kobe – Hakata – Busan – Shanghai – Ningbo – Haiphong – Vung Tau – Laem Chabang – Manila North Harbour – Busan – Tokyo

• Seahorse service

The Seahorse service has been upgraded to offer a direct connection from central China to Thailand and Malaysia, featuring competitive transit times. The first sailing of the Seahorse service will be operated by MSC ELIZABETH on voyage HO322A, with an estimated arrival time in Shanghai on June 1.

The port rotation for the Seahorse service is as follows:

Shanghai – Ningbo – Laem Chabang – Port Klang – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Surabaya – Jakarta – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Qinzhou – Hong Kong – Shanghai

• Seagull service

The Seagull service has been improved to provide direct connections between central China and Indonesia, as well as Vietnam and Thailand with Shekou, offering competitive transit times. The first sailing of the upgraded service will be operated by MSC SAGITTA III on voyage HU323A, with an estimated time of arrival in Shanghai on June 6.

The port rotation for the Seagull service is as follows:

Shanghai – Ningbo – Xiamen – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Jakarta – Port Klang – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Laem Chabang – Vung Tau – Shekou – Shanghai

•  Pertiwi service

The Pertiwi service has been upgraded to enhance capacity with the additional call of Da Chan Bay. The first sailing of the upgraded Pertiwi service will be operated by MSC SOPHIE on voyage HW322A, with an estimated arrival time in Busan on June 2.

The port rotation for the Pertiwi service is as follows:

Busan – Dalian – Xingang – Incheon – Qingdao – Da Chan Bay – Vung Tau – Laem Chabang – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Panjang – Jakarta – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Busan


Furthermore, the new and enhanced network of intra-Asia trade routes offers various additional services, whose sailing operations are as follow:

• Dolphin service

The Dolphin service has been expanded to provide increased coverage, offering direct connections between North China and Malaysia, as well as Indonesia, and facilitating connectivity between Southeast Asia, Korea, and North China. The first sailing of the expanded Dolphin service will be operated by MSC VAIGA III on voyage HV322A, with an estimated arrival time in Busan on May 31.

The port rotation for the Dolphin service is as follows:

Qingdao – Dalian – Xingang – Shekou – Port Klang – Tanjung Pelepas – Singapore – Semarang – Surabaya – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Vung Tau – Busan – Qingdao

• Lang Co service

For the first time, MSC will make calls at Batangas, establishing a direct connection between The Philippines and South China, featuring competitive transit times. The improved service will also offer a direct connection from Indonesia to The Philippines. The inaugural sailing of the enhanced Lang Co Service will be operated by MSC TIPHAINE II on voyage HZ323A, with an estimated arrival in Qui Nhon on June 6.

The port rotation for the Lang Co Service is as follows:

Qui Nhon – Da Nang – Yantian – Shekou – Vung Tau – Tanjung Pelepas – Singapore – Port Klang – Jakarta – Batangas – Manila North Harbour – Nansha – Shekou – Qui Nhon     

• Orchid service

The Orchid service introduces a new direct call from South China and Vietnam to Penang and Pasir Gudang. MSC GRETA III will operate the first sailing of the Orchid service on voyage HD322A, with an estimated arrival in Fuzhou on June 1.

The port rotation for the Orchid service is as follows:

Fuzhou – Shantou – Hong Kong – Shekou – Yantian – Haiphong – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Penang – Pasir Gudang – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Haiphong – Hong Kong – Fuzhou

• Bengal service

The Bengal service offers a new direct connection with Belawan, Indonesia’s busiest seaport outside of Java. The first sailing of the Bengal service will be operated by HANSA LANKA on voyage SX322A, with an estimated arrival in Belawan on June 3.

The port rotation for the Bengal service is as follows:

Belawan – Tanjung Pelepas – Singapore – Chattogram – Tanjung Pelepas – Singapore – Belawan     

• Burma service

The Burma service introduces a new direct connection with Belawan and provides enhanced import and export capacity. The first sailing of the Burma service will be operated by MSC ANDREA F on voyage SB323A, with an estimated arrival in Belawan on June 6.

The port rotation for the Burma service is as follows:

Belawan – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Yangon – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Belawan

• Golden Horn service

A new direct call at Hakata will be introduced with the Golden Horn service. The first sailing of this service will be operated by MSC KYMEA II on voyage HX323A, with an estimated arrival at Hakata on June 6.

The port rotation for the Golden Horn service is as follows:

Hakata – Busan – Vladivostok – Busan – Hakata

 Origami service

Meanwhile, The Origami service maintains its role in providing direct connections between Japan and Korea with Southeast Asia, as well as linking The Philippines with Korea and Japan.

The port rotation for the Origami service is as follows:

Tokyo – Yokohama – Yokkaichi – Nagoya – Busan – Vung Tau – Tanjung Pelepas – Singapore – Subic – Manila North Harbour – Kaohsiung – Busan – Tokyo
