MEDLOG, a global leader in logistics and supply chain solutions, has officially opened a cutting-edge cold chain logistics facility in Savannah, Georgia. Spanning more than 300,000 square feet, the new site features the largest blast freezing capacity in the United States, capable of freezing up to three million pounds of protein in a 24-hour period. The project is expected to generate over 100 new jobs and deliver an economic impact of 65 million U.S. dollars to the state of Georgia.
Located near the Port of Savannah, one of the fastest-growing and most connected ports in the country, the facility provides direct access to global markets. It also reinforces MEDLOG’s position as a strategic partner for U.S. exporters and protein suppliers across the Southeast and Midwest.
“This latest investment will greatly benefit the region and the Port of Savannah. True to our values, MEDLOG continuously invests in strategic assets that improve efficiency and global market access for our customers. This facility is the crown jewel of the cold storage industry and reflects our commitment to supporting both our clients and the communities where we operate,” said Mr. Michael Burton, President of MEDLOG USA.
Designed for versatility, the facility includes nearly 20,000 freezer and cooler pallet positions with convertible zones that allow flexible temperature ranges between –20°F and +40°F. The blast freezing system, which triples the standard industry efficiency, enables rapid freezing and outbound logistics within a single day—critical for high-volume protein exporters.
Equipped with 42 loading docks and direct rail connectivity for inland transport, the site offers true multimodal transportation options. Its location positions it as a central logistics hub with seamless connections to MEDLOG’s global network and its parent company, MSC.
“MEDLOG is a committed partner to America’s success. We are expanding our footprint to better connect U.S. customers to global growth markets. This facility is part of a broader infrastructure strategy that enhances our unique ability to serve complex supply chain requirements. With MSC, we are building a logistics ecosystem that delivers global competitive advantages and drives national economic growth,” said Mr. Giuseppe Prudente, Chairman of MEDLOG.
This Savannah facility is the latest project in a billion-dollar investment programme by MEDLOG to strengthen its U.S. capabilities. Since 2022, the company has invested over 200 million U.S. dollars across the country. Its U.S. operations now include 45 facilities, a fleet of more than 1,800 trucks, over 2,000 chassis, and an annual movement of 750,000 containers.
Beyond MEDLOG’s direct contributions, MSC’s broader economic footprint in the U.S. supports an estimated 120,000 indirect jobs, nearly 10 billion dollars in wages and benefits, and over 14 billion dollars in economic activity.
