Maersk Container Industry Star Cool ITI 2.0

In the ever-evolving world of shipping and logistics, efficiency and innovation are key. One of the significant breakthroughs in this regard has been the introduction of Intelligent Trip Inspection (ITI) technology. Maersk Container Industry is now thrilled to announce the arrival of Star Cool ITI 2.0 – an even more advanced version of this renowned system.

Initially introduced by MCI, Star Cool ITI was designed to drastically reduce the time and resources required for the manual Pre-Trip Inspections (PTIs) on reefers. PTIs are essential to ensuring the functionality and safety of refrigerated containers before they are loaded with cargo. However, traditional PTIs often proved time-consuming and costly, prompting the industry to seek more efficient alternatives.

The automated ITI stepped in as the game-changer. It allowed reefers to self-diagnose during cargo operation, eliminating the need for time-consuming depot-based tests and associated container lifts and movements. This innovation significantly reduced the PTI time, enhancing shipping lines’ turnaround times and profitability. The benefits were clear – less downtime, reduced operational costs, and increased customer satisfaction.

ITI 2.0: So what is new?

With ITI 2.0, monitoring and accessing ITI information has never been easier. The improved interface offers a more intuitive and user-friendly experience, resulting in a larger reduction in PTIs. While shipping lines have achieved a significant decrease in PTIs, ITI 2.0, with its ‘Finalize ITI’ function, can expect a complete 100% reduction, translating to substantial cost savings and increased operational efficiency.

Troubleshooting made simple

Service technicians will quickly find ITI 2.0 a valuable tool in their operation. The technology provides readily available troubleshooting information without running a PTI, ensuring swift and effective resolution of any issues that may arise. This feature minimizes downtime, keeping cargo safe and shipments on schedule.

Finalize ITI functionality

Perhaps the most significant advancement in ITI 2.0 is introducing the ‘Finalize ITI’ functionality. This feature eliminates the need to run a PTI, optimizing the time needed for a reefer unit to complete the pre-trip inspection process. Through advanced analytics, the controller runs only the tests required for the specific unit, verifying that it is ready for the trip. This saves time and reduces wear and tear on the equipment.

Full Sekstant support

ITI 2.0 integrates seamlessly with Sekstant, allowing global remote access to all ITI information. This remote monitoring capability empowers operators to plan service actions proactively, even before the container reaches the depot. It’s a game-changer for maintenance and logistics planning, ensuring reefers are always in top condition.
