DHL Supply Chain has acquired Inmar Supply Chain Solutions, a leading provider of returns solutions for the retail e-commerce industry. This strategic acquisition positions DHL Supply Chain as the largest reverse logistics provider in North America.

The acquisition adds 14 return centers and approximately 800 associates to DHL Supply Chain’s North American operations, expanding its footprint and enhancing its returns capabilities. DHL Supply Chain will now offer a comprehensive suite of reverse logistics services, including product remarketing, recall management, and supply chain performance analytics.

“DHL Supply Chain’s market-leading logistics expertise and the addition of Inmar’s suite of returns services and its talented workforce will enable us to provide best-in-class logistics services to our industry customers,” said Oscar de Bok, Global CEO of DHL Supply Chain. “Together, we will create a returns business in North America that is unmatched in its depth, breadth, capabilities, and talent to fuel long-term growth.”

Enhancing Value for Customers

This acquisition strengthens DHL Supply Chain’s position as a single-source solution provider for the entire supply chain, including the critical area of returns management. This streamlines operations reduces complexity, and improves overall supply chain efficiency for customers.

“As companies strive to simplify their supply chain strategies and enhance their operational agility, DHL Supply Chain continues to innovate to provide comprehensive and integrated solutions,” said Patrick Kelleher, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, North America. “This acquisition strengthens our existing capabilities, allowing us to offer our customers a single-source solution for their entire supply chain, including the critical and complex area of returns management.”

Strategic Growth and Sustainability

The acquisition aligns with DHL Group’s Strategy 2030, which aims to achieve 50% revenue growth by 2030 compared to 2023. It also supports DHL’s commitment to sustainability and decarbonizing its business by 2050.

Inmar’s technology-driven reverse logistics solutions are recognized for reducing costs and waste generated from returned consumer goods. Their emphasis on recommerce, which has diverted 99% of consumer returns from landfills, aligns with DHL’s commitment to making supply chains more sustainable.

“Inmar Intelligence and DHL share a deep commitment to customer-focused innovation,” said Spencer Baird, CEO of Inmar Intelligence. “We are confident that DHL will build even greater things on top of the Inmar Supply Chain Solutions foundation that we developed over time.”

This acquisition marks a significant step in DHL’s commitment to providing customer-centric solutions for the growing e-commerce market, while also contributing to its sustainability goals.
