Maersk New Container Depot Kribi Cameroon

Maersk has opened a new container depot in Kribi, Cameroon, expanding its logistics infrastructure in West Africa and strengthening support for regional import and export flows.

The new facility has a capacity of 1,500 TEUs and adds 16,000 square metres to Maersk’s depot network in the region. Kribi serves as an important deep-water gateway for Cameroon and neighbouring markets.

Improving Container Availability and Supply Chain Flexibility

The depot provides cargo handling, storage, customs inspection and clearance services, helping customers manage container flows more efficiently and reduce logistics bottlenecks.

The facility also improves access to different types of container equipment closer to customer operations, while providing additional storage flexibility during periods of changing demand.

Customers can use Maersk’s digital booking, tracking and monitoring tools to gain greater visibility over container status and movements.

Supporting Reefer and Food Cargo

The Kribi depot is equipped to handle reefer containers, supporting temperature-sensitive cargo throughout the supply chain. It will also provide food-grade containers for customers moving agricultural and food products.

The facility offers additional options for returning empty containers, helping customers reduce the risk of detention and demurrage costs.

Expanding Maersk’s West African Network

With the new Kribi facility, Maersk now operates eight company-owned depots across West Africa, in addition to more than 20 facilities managed by third-party partners.

The company’s owned depot network covers approximately 150,000 square metres, while partner-operated sites add more than 280,000 square metres of capacity across the region.

Maersk said the investment forms part of its broader strategy to expand landside infrastructure, improve supply chain resilience and provide more integrated logistics services across Africa.
