Evergreen Marine showcased its latest cold chain technologies at Asia Fruit Logistica 2026, held from 2–4 September at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.
The company highlighted developments in smart reefer monitoring, controlled atmosphere technology, predictive maintenance and lower-energy equipment designed to support the safe and efficient transport of fresh produce and other temperature-sensitive cargo.
Expanding Smart Reefer Capabilities
Evergreen currently operates approximately 58,000 reefer containers, all equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
The system enables real-time monitoring of container location, temperature, humidity and operating status. Alerts can also be generated in the event of temperature deviations, unauthorised door openings or equipment malfunctions, allowing teams to respond more quickly to potential issues.

The carrier also uses data analytics and remote diagnostics to monitor reefer performance and identify potential equipment problems before failures occur, helping reduce the risk of cold chain disruption.
Supporting Fresh Produce Quality
For products such as bananas, avocados and grapes, Evergreen offers Controlled Atmosphere (CA) reefer services that regulate oxygen and carbon dioxide levels inside the container.
The technology helps slow ripening and deterioration during long-distance transportation, supporting product quality while reducing spoilage and extending the potential selling window for fresh produce.
Improving Energy Efficiency
Evergreen is also introducing reefer containers equipped with variable-speed compressors and energy-saving systems that adjust operation according to cooling requirements.
The company said these technologies can reduce energy consumption while supporting more efficient cold chain operations.
By combining smart monitoring, predictive maintenance, CA technology and energy-efficient equipment, Evergreen aims to provide customers with greater visibility, reliability and sustainability across international fresh produce supply chains.
