Logistics provider Kuehne+Nagel has announced a major infrastructure investment in a new Container Freight Station (CFS) in Phnom Penh, scheduled for completion in June 2027.
The facility will add over 20,000 square meters of modern warehouse capacity, more than tripling the company’s current CFS operational footprint in Cambodia to support rising trade volumes across Southeast Asia.
Strategic Positioning and Multimodal Connectivity
The facility is situated near Phnom Penh’s main industrial zones and key transport corridors:
- Transport Gateways: Positioned with direct access to Phnom Penh Autonomous Port, Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, and Phnom Penh International Airport.
- Cross-Border Links: Aligns with regional road freight corridors connecting Cambodia directly to manufacturing hubs in Thailand and Vietnam.
- Infrastructure Context: Supports national maritime trade expansion following 2025 container throughput volumes of approximately 600,000 TEUs at Phnom Penh Autonomous Port and 1.3 million TEUs at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port.
Facility Specifications and Sustainability Standards
The raised-floor warehouse is designed specifically for cargo consolidation, less-than-container load (LCL) handling, and consumer goods logistics:
- Operational Features: Equipped with heavy-duty loading doors, dock levelers, and a floor loading capacity of 5 tonnes per square meter.
- Industry Certifications: Designed to achieve ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) standards.
- Green Logistics Features: Incorporates solar energy panels, skylight roofing, LED lighting systems, electric battery-operated forklifts, and on-site rainwater management infrastructure.
Executive Commentary
David Roussiere, Managing Director for Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar at Kuehne+Nagel, noted that tripling the firm’s local CFS footprint will strengthen supply chain resilience for consumer goods clients while providing direct connectivity to key ASEAN trade corridors.
