DP World Ichijo Komuten Japan–Philippines Shipping Link

DP World has strengthened its partnership with Ichijo Komuten through an expanded shipping connection between Japan and the Philippines, supported by CMA CGM’s JP8 service.

The weekly service, which began in March 2026, links Sendai with ports in the Philippines, enhancing supply chain efficiency for the movement of prefabricated housing materials.

Improving Connectivity Between Japan and the Philippines

Operated by CMA CGM, the JP8 service connects Sendai with Manila South Harbour and Batangas Integrated Port, both operated by Asian Terminals Inc., DP World’s local partner.

The service represents the first regular international shipping link between Sendai and the Philippines in eight years, supporting more reliable and direct cargo flows between the two markets.

Supporting Prefabricated Housing Supply Chains

The enhanced connectivity supports Ichijo’s operations in the Philippines, where prefabricated housing components are produced for export to Japan.

By combining maritime services with integrated logistics solutions, DP World is enabling more efficient cargo movement from port to production and onward distribution, reducing congestion and improving transit times.

Strengthening Integrated Logistics Capabilities

DP World’s terminals in Manila and Batangas are supported by inland and marine logistics services, improving supply chain visibility and coordination.

In Japan, the company also supports domestic cargo distribution to regional ports, ensuring end-to-end connectivity across both origin and destination markets.

Glen Hilton, CEO and Managing Director, Asia Pacific at DP World, said the initiative reflects ongoing collaboration to deliver tailored logistics solutions that improve efficiency and reliability across complex supply chains.
