DACHSER Network Twelve Electric Trucks Long-Haul Routes

DACHSER has significantly expanded its electric truck fleet with the addition of twelve Mercedes-Benz eActros 600s, delivered to its German-Austrian subsidiary, Brummer Logistik, in mid-December. These electric trucks, boasting a range of approximately 500 kilometers, will be utilized for regional and long-distance food transport.

The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, a battery-electric 40-ton truck, began series production at the end of 2024. Brummer Logistik is among the first recipients of these heavy-duty electric trucks.

“We have high hopes for the new eActros 600 and want to integrate the electric trucks into our transport planning as a replacement for conventional diesel vehicles,” said Max Reih, Managing Director of Brummer Logistik GmbH. “The decisive factor here is that the vehicles achieve a range of 500 kilometers on a single battery charge. The expected mileage of around 90,000 kilometers per year suits our requirements and purposes.”

Expanding Electromobility in the DACHSER Network

“The deployment of the first eActros 600 in the DACHSER network is another milestone for us in the transition to zero-emission drives,” added Alexander Tonn, COO Road Logistics at DACHSER. “More and more battery-electric tractor units are now coming onto the market for heavy-duty transport, and the ranges are also increasing. As an impulse generator in the field of sustainability, it is important for us to put these vehicles into practical use quickly in order to gain further experience with electromobility, especially in long-distance transport.”

DACHSER plans to deploy 14 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600s at six other European locations in the coming months.

Investment in Charging Infrastructure

To support the new electric fleet, Brummer Logistik invested in extensive charging infrastructure at its Neuburg am Inn site. Fast charging stations with eleven fixed and two mobile charging points have been installed, powered by green electricity from photovoltaic systems and a battery storage system.

The purchase of the vehicles and charging infrastructure was partially funded by the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport.

Commitment to Sustainable Logistics

DACHSER is committed to a long-term climate protection strategy and is actively driving the transition to sustainable logistics. The company has been using electric trucks since 2018 and is continuously expanding its fleet of alternative drive systems.

DACHSER has established three e-mobility sites in Freiburg, Hamburg, and Malsch for practical testing and research into climate-friendly technologies. These sites aim to increase the number of zero-emission vehicles in the DACHSER network and contribute to the company’s goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
