HMM Ruby, the latest addition to the fleet of 13K TEU containerships, was officially introduced as the 7th vessel of this class at a prestigious naming ceremony held at the Hanhwa Ocean shipyard. The ship, which bears the name of the birthstone of July, symbolises the company’s unwavering dedication to treating customers’ cargo with the utmost care and attention.
Scheduled to commence its service on the PSX route (Pacific South Express) on the 25th of this month, HMM Ruby will facilitate trade between South Korea and the United States, calling at strategic ports including Shanghai (China), Gwangyang and Busan (South Korea), Los Angeles and Oakland (USA), and Incheon (South Korea).
With a remarkable capacity to transport approximately 13,000 20-foot containers, HMM Ruby is specifically designed for efficient and eco-friendly operations. Its slow navigation design leads to lower pollutant emissions and enhanced fuel efficiency compared to similar vessels. Additionally, the ship is equipped with an LNG-ready structure, allowing for potential conversion to LNG propulsion in the future.
