Taiwan has nurtured countless unique natural resources over the years. Wan Hai Lines has been promoting the tree planting and conservation project since 2022 to mitigate the impact of climate change on the environment and protect Taiwan’s rich natural resources. Guided by an environmental protection ethos, the company has committed to long-term tree planting and afforestation on this beautiful island, aiming to plant over 600,000 trees throughout Taiwan, fulfilling its social responsibility.

On October 26, Wan Hai Lines organized the “Zhuangwei Yilan – Jialiu Sha Po Coastal Protective Forest Planting Event” with the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency’s Yilan Division. This tree planting initiative is expected to plant and nurture over 3,000 trees in the Zhuangwei area, creating a coastal windbreak and protective forest. This protective forest prevents sand drift, protects cultivated land behind it, and contributes to the national territory’s integrity while providing a place for tourism and recreation.

Through this tree-planting event, Wan Hai aspires to raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection. To broaden the impact of these tree-planting activities, Wan Hai has previously invited various stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, partner banks, local community residents, and others to participate. In this instance, Wan Hai extends its invitation to ESG partners and 16 social welfare organizations collaborating with the Wan Hai Charity Foundation. By harnessing the power of stakeholders, Wan Hai aims to expand its sustainable influence, increasing awareness of the significance of environmental protection and taking action alongside Wan Hai to mitigate climate change, preserve biodiversity, and promote the sustainable utilization of Earth’s resources. Wan Hai Lines Chairman Chen Po-Ting, Director-General Lin Hua-Ching of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, Director Hsiao Chung-Jen of the Yilan Division and other dignitaries joined Wan Hai directors and senior executives in planting 100 plants, including Sea Lemon, Susanna’s Horn, Conocarpus, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Pongamia pinnata, and Melaleuca alternifolia, to aid in wind protection and soil conservation.

Wan Hai is committed to practising ESG-sustainable operations and adheres to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity and various Sustainable Development Goals. The company will continue to collaborate with the Wan Hai Charity Foundation to support vulnerable groups both domestically and internationally, sowing the seeds of hope and goodness and working towards Wan Hai’s sustainable goals. Together with society and the environment, Wan Hai embodies its belief: “We carry, We care.”
