Wan Hai Lines Ltd. held a ship naming ceremony for WAN HAI A13 with a charity donation on 16 January at Samsung Heavy Industries Geoje shipyard.

Ms. Lim Eun Hee, Team Leader of the Auto Sales Team from LX Pantos, performed the christening rituals, blessing the vessel with good fortune and safe journeys. Following the ceremony, WAN HAI A13 was delivered at Geoje shipyard and embarked on her journey to Shanghai Port to phase in Wan Hai Lines’ Asia to East Coast of North America service.

WAN HAI A13 is the seventh vessel in the 13,100 TEU series of containerships signed by Wan Hai Lines Ltd. and Samsung Heavy Industries. Six more vessels in the same series are yet to be completed and delivered. These containerships have a length of 335 meters, a breadth of 51 meters, a draft of 16 meters and a maximum cruising speed of 22 knots. They are equipped with new engines and feature environmentally friendly designs such as full-balanced twisted bulb rudders and pre-swirl fins, which help to achieve energy-saving and fuel-efficient effects. Moreover, these vessels have obtained “Smart Ship” notation, ensuring safe and reliable maritime transportation services.

In addition to naming the newbuilding, Wan Hai Lines also donated necessities to a local charity Tongyeong Shinaewon Green Narae. We hope this small token could benefit the local community. The charity donation represents part of Wan Hai Lines’ motto, “We carry, we care”, as the company is committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, providing quality service to customers and bringing love to society.
