In October 2022, TIPS broke the Thai record for the highest volume of containers transferred by rail in a single calendar month. The record-breaking total amounted to 39,031 TEUs, soon followed by the highest daily transfer rate of 1,600 TEUs on December 14, 2022.
The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) appointed TIPS to operate container rail transfers between terminals at Laem Chabang Port (LCB) and the Single Rail Transfer Operator (SRTO)’s tracks and other related activities on April 6, 2022.
This service gives several benefits to customers, such as frequent departures, flexibility, and shorter transit times for the rail services between LCB and Lat Krabang Inland Container Depot (ICD Lat Krabang). It also offers efficient, economical, and environmentally friendly options for inland transport from and to LCB, including other dry ports and border crossings.
Moreover, TIPS has implemented technology solutions for haulage planning, controlling lifting equipment, and container storage to enhance rail capabilities and ensure that containers arrive safely and on time. This includes an eBooking system for container transport and GPS truck tracking solutions.
ICD Lat Krabang operators and shipping lines can now check their container status and train schedules in advance through the eBooking system and have real-time access to data for individual units. This new solution will speed up pick-up and delivery at LCB terminals, allowing train operators to work at maximum capacity.
