MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), a global leader in container shipping, has achieved a significant milestone in Thailand by becoming the first shipping line to adopt e-Stamp Duty technology in its shipping documents. This initiative aims to minimize the reliance on paper-based documentation, promote transparency, and deliver added convenience to valued customers.

The e-Stamp Duty technology is now integrated into MSC’s Delivery Orders (DOs) and Bills of Lading (BLs) processes, offering customers an efficient way to verify payment receipts with the Revenue Department.

In the case of DOs, MSC has introduced e-Stamps in the form of QR codes generated within their system. These QR codes are displayed on the electronic DOs, allowing customers to effortlessly scan and validate payment receipts with the Revenue Department. As for BLs, a notice confirming the payment of stamp duty will be included, along with a hyperlink directing customers to a website where they can input their BL number and access the stamp duty payment receipt.

“MSC is committed to driving digitalization within the shipping industry to enhance efficiency and transparency. Our integration of e-Stamp Duty technology not only assures our customers of the payment status with the Revenue Department but also streamlines document issuance by reducing administrative tasks. We believe this is a significant step forward in enhancing customer experience and advancing digital transformation in the maritime sector,” said Ms. Rungruedee Kurutuch, Deputy Managing Director, Mediterranean Shipping (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
