JJ Shipping, a leading shipping company from China, hosted ceremonies to commemorate the maiden voyage of the M.V. Mild Orchid from October 20-21. The events took place at the LCIT C3 terminal in Laem Chabang Port on Friday, October 20, and at Bangkok Port on Saturday, October 21.

The celebratory event at Bangkok Port was graced by the presence of several esteemed guests, including Mr. Weerayut Sawangjaeng, Deputy Director of the Laem Chabang Port Authority; Mr. Poramet Chotirat, Director of the Container Terminal Services Division 1, Ship and Cargo Operations Unit, Bangkok Port; Ms. Kritsada Sukkaree, Director of the Container Terminal Services Division 2, Ship and Cargo Operations Unit, Bangkok Port; Mr. Wang Xiangqun, General Administration Manager; and Mr. Tom Chalermkanchana, Director of Jinjiang Shipping Agency (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

At the ceremony, JJ Shipping arranged a special tour of the ship’s conning tower, engine room, and cafeteria for the guests. The ship’s captain also demonstrated various equipment operations in the control tower. The festivities also included an auspicious traditional Chinese meal ceremony to mark the occasion.

“This celebratory moment signifies another milestone for our company. The M.V. Mild Orchid represents the inaugural vessel of our Bangkok Max fleet to dock at Bangkok Port. We are confident that this ship will play a pivotal role in enhancing trade relations between Thailand and China,” said Mr. Wang.

The M.V. Mild Orchid is the first vessel of a fleet consisting of four Bangkok Max-class 1,900 TEU container ships. JJ Shipping initiated the construction of this fleet. The ship has been designed with a strong emphasis on safety, fuel efficiency, and environmental sustainability. It also incorporates advanced technology, including high-voltage shore power facilities for energy efficiency and the intelligent ship operating system known as DOSS.

The M.V. Mild Orchid is set to join the CTX (China-Thailand Express) service fleet for its maiden deployment during the last quarter of 2023. It will replace the current fleet that serves routes connecting China to key ports throughout Southeast Asia.

The CTX service port rotation is as follows:

Shanghai – Ximen – Laem Chabang – Bangkok – Sihanoukville – Ho Chi Minh City – Shanghai

The new fleet is anticipated to enhance service capabilities and offer an additional shipping route option between China and Southeast Asia.
