First High-Speed Trains for Jakarta–Bandung High-Speed Railway Ready for Shipment

On August 21, a high-speed train and a comprehensive inspection train were successfully loaded at the Port of Qingdao to be shipped to Indonesia by sea. This is the first shipment of trains for the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, marking the first-time high-speed trains were exported to a foreign country from China.

The vessel M.V. DA HUA, a heavy lift vessel operated by COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers, was commissioned to execute the shipping assignment. This line of vessels includes four ships – DA ZHONG, DA HUA, DA FU, and DA QIANG – each with a hatch length of 62.4 meters and a maximum lifting capacity of 500 tons. It is an important type of vessel for providing transportation services for high-end products manufactured in China for the global market.

The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway is a landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative, a cooperation between China and Indonesia. Furthermore, it is the first overseas construction project to involve the whole system and the entire industrial chain of Chinese high-speed trains.

To ensure the successful shipment of cargo, COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers began planning the shipping capacity arrangements several months in advance, and ultimately worked out a customized service plan for the M.V. DA HUA. The vessel is to be commissioned to ship the trains directly from the Port of Qingdao to the Port of Jakarta and arrive at the port of discharge in 10 days.
