DB Schenker has achieved a 99.5% inventory accuracy for Siemens in the UK, demonstrating significant improvements in operational efficiency through focused process streamlining and the use of advanced digital tools. This unprecedented accuracy, achieved at the Siemens site in Congleton, Cheshire, is now serving as a model for other DB Schenker Contract Logistics sites across the country.
By enhancing digital tools for inventory management and order processing, DB Schenker has not only met accuracy targets but also enabled the provision of new value-added services for Siemens and other clients. The company utilizes automatic consignment tracking, just-in-time, and ‘kanban’ techniques to ensure timely delivery of parts to the production line, aligning inventory levels with actual consumption.
At the Siemens site, DB Schenker teams are completing order picking and dispatching in half the target time and resolving stock discrepancies within 24 hours.
Aaron Scott, CEO of DB Schenker UK & Ireland, highlighted the company’s collaborative approach, use of cloud computing, warehouse management systems, and SaaS models, which have proven attractive to electronics production companies like Siemens. Billy Cartwright, Material Service Manager at Siemens UK, praised DB Schenker’s outstanding partnership, citing exceptional logistics operations, flexible customer service, and industry-leading expertise.
