COSCO SHIPPING Ports’ Xiamen Haicang Supply Chain Project Hosts Groundbreaking Ceremony

COSCO SHIPPING Ports, the world’s leading ports operator, is pleased to announce that, in the morning of 22 December, the groundbreaking ceremony of COSCO SHIPPING Ports’ Xiamen Haicang Supply Chain Project was officially held in Haicang, Xiamen. Su Yongchang, Member of the Leading Party Members’ Group of Xiamen Haicang District People’s Government, Hong Lizhuan, Deputy Secretary for Port Management Board of Xiamen City, Zhang Dayu, Managing Director of COSCO SHIPPING Ports, some leaders and guests from Haicang District People’s Government attended the groundbreaking ceremony and witnessed the start of the construction of the project.

Leveraging on the automation of Xiamen Oceangate Terminal and sea-rail intermodal transportation project, COSCO SHIPPING Ports’ Xiamen Haicang Supply Chain Project integrates the supply chain infrastructure facilities of “automated terminal + automated railway automated warehouse”, which will help reduce regional logistics costs and operating costs and promote industrial ecological integration and upgrading.

Zhang Dayu, Managing Director of COSCO SHIPPING Ports, said that we place great importance on the construction and development of Xiamen Haicang Supply Chain Project, and hope to take this as an opportunity to further strengthen mutual trust and cooperation with Haicang District People’s Government, jointly promote and achieve a win-win situation, and contribute to the construction of national-level port logistics hub in Xiamen and the Maritime Silk Road.

COSCO SHIPPING Ports’ Xiamen Haicang Supply Chain Project is located behind No. 13 berth in Haicang Port District, covering an area of approximately 66,000 square meters. The project is planned to be developed in two phases. The first phase covers an area of about 23,800 square meters and will build two high-standard double-layer ramp warehouses, which can provide about 20,000 square meters of storage area. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in the first quarter of 2023.

COSCO SHIPPING Ports’ Xiamen Haicang Supply Chain Project is based in Fujian Province and serves the whole world. Leveraging on own resources, leading practices in smart operations and green, low-carbon areas, it better integrates Xiamen’s excellent business environment and preferential policy support in terms of free trade pilot zone, port infrastructure facilities, industrial supporting facilities. With our synergy with COSCO SHIPPING’s world’s largest fleet size, we will further promote the construction of a national-level port logistics hub in Xiamen with high quality. After the project is completed, we will work with ecological partners and clients to improve operational efficiency and assets value.

At present, COSCO SHIPPING Ports is building new port supply chain ecology, including inbound railways and logistics facilities in some hub terminals. In China, with the three key nodes of Guangzhou Nansha, Xiamen and Wuhan as the centres, a supply chain base radiating the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, southeast coast and the central region will be established. Overseas, COSCO SHIPPING Ports has initially formed five major overseas supply chain bases: the Port of Piraeus in Greece leverages on the “China-Europe Sea Express” service and supporting regional PCT LCL centre that mainly radiates the east coast of the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, and Central Europe; CSP Valencia Terminal and CSP Bilbao Terminal in Spain have two auxiliary railway stations in Madrid and Zaragoza, and are building a supply chain base radiating the west coast of the Mediterranean and North Africa; CSP Zeebrugge Terminal radiates Northwestern Europe through terminal and logistics park related services; Leveraging on the CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal and CFS, and build supply chain base in the Persian Gulf, India and Pakistan, and
East Africa. In addition, we are accelerating the construction of the Peruvian Chancay supply chain base, which radiates the western region of South America and is actively strengthening customer-centric service capability.

From point to surface, from surface to net. Adhering to the development concept of “T”e Ports for ALL”, in the future, COSCO SHIPPING Ports will continue to utilize the rapid evolution of the supply chain to provide global customers with ports and supply chain services with linkage effects in terms of cost, service and synergy.
